SPANISH 2
Course Description:
The course focuses on mastering the fundamentals
of the
Spanish language, developing expressivity and fluidity in written and
spoken
language, and broadening of cultural awareness. Grammatical components
will
include further study of orthography and special punctuation, in
particular
rules for the placement of accents. Students will develop their
metalinguistic
awareness through the study of affixes, morphology (e.g., transforming
adjectives to adverbs), and etymological patterns. Pronunciation and
listening
comprehension will be addressed through interactions with music, film,
and
other media. Students will also expand their productive vocabularies
and work
towards complexity and nuance in their writing and speaking. Lastly,
they will
master the indicative modes and begin learning the subjunctive mode and
perfect
tenses.

Storytelling and oral presentations, note-taking,
vocabulary
games, flashcards, vocabulary logs, verb conjugation charts, verbal and
written
descriptions, news articles, stories and poetry, cloze activities,
translations
of medium-length passages from English to Spanish and vice versa, music
and

source
